Damon T. Hartley
Damon Hartley concentrates his practice in the area of maritime law.
He has extensive experience representing clients in connection with personal injuries on board commercial and private vessels and in marine facilities, including crew, longshore and passenger claims. In addition, he frequently represents numerous members of the International Group of Protection and Indemnity Clubs. These matters involve collisions, groundings, vessel sinkings, wreckage removal, environmental damage, crew and passenger claims, stowaways and similar concerns.
In the area of regulatory compliance, Damon counsels vessel owners regarding the requirements set forth under various agencies, such as the Federal Maritime Commission, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Maritime Administration and U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
In addition, Damon often works with hull insurers around the world to investigate, evaluate, adjust and litigate their hull claims. He supervises and assists with the drafting of repair specifications, coordinates the advertising, evaluation and awarding of repair bids, drafts and negotiates repair contracts, and administers periodic progress repair payments.
